A Few Tricks to Keep Your Little’s Attentions During a Session.

It is that time of year again where I get ready to photograph Motherhood Minis. This year I am offering them in a stunning studio in the city of Northridge. I am working with Maria’s Little Garden to create a Spring forward backdrop with a little whimsy and garden type vibes. Lots of pastel tones with a clean, white backdrop.
After photographing families for the better part of a decade I have learned some cheat codes for handling littles during a session. Here they are:
First and foremost, always stand behind me while I try to grab your child’s attention. Even if your child is looking at you, it gives the illusion of them looking into the camera.

One thing to do is bring their favorite noisy toy for me to have while photographing them. I like to hold their favorite toy over my lens and this will usually get their attention and smiles.
Another trick to bring their favorite person. A grandparent, friend, or other family member that your little loves and who can bring out those smiles and giggles you love.

There are two more tricks (that aren’t my favorite but usually work)- one, bring a screen with you. We can play their favorite song or show over my lens to keep their attention. Lastly, bring a snack- preferably something without color or something you can parcel into pieces and bribe the heck out of them!

Don’t be discouraged when your little doesn’t smile. Sometimes that is just who they are!
I am offering Motherhood Minis in a lovely studio in Northridge. Only four spots available. If you’d like to book your session, click the link. These sessions are 20 minutes long and include 10 digital images.
