Derrick and Faith absolutely rocked their couple’s session at the Griffith Observatory. Chic outfits, real love made for lots of magic.

We opted for a sunrise session because if you’re local to Los Angeles, then you know crowding is difficult to navigate in the evening. Griffith Observatory has some of the most breathtaking views in Los Angeles. The I love the architecture of the Observatory, stunning Greek-like walls over overlooks takes you away for a while.

There’s something so special about Griffith Observatory in the early morning. The air feels calm, the city below is still quiet, and the light wraps everything in a soft, golden haze. It’s one of my favorite times to photograph couples — peaceful, intimate, and endlessly romantic.

For Derrick and Faith, we met during sunrise just as the sun peeked over the Los Angeles skyline. The light hit the observatory’s white walls beautifully, creating a soft glow that felt cinematic and effortless. Between the laughter, the stillness, and those sweeping city views, every moment felt like a scene from a love story.
Morning sessions at Griffith Observatory are perfect for couples who want photos that feel romantic and elevated without the crowds. The combination of golden light and stunning architecture creates timeless images that truly capture the heart of Los Angeles.

Also, can we talk about these stunning dalmatians? They didn’t belong to Derrick and Faith, but I asked the owners if we could use them for our pictures because they were perfect for the outfits the couple wore.

I took this time to bring my film camera out because Derrick and Faith are lovers of film and all things cinema.
