El Matador State Beach was the perfect backdrop for a romantic engagement session. When photographing Valerie and Earl I asked a little bit about who they were and how they met. The two met at a bar in Santa Monica and their first real date was at Malibu Creek State Park. El Matador felt like the perfect middle between both locations. Known for it’s beautiful cliffs and unique rock formation, El Matador could not have been more romantic for them to frolic about. It was a cloudy day in Malibu, but perfect nonetheless for this engagement session.

Valerie and Earl hardly needed any direction during their romantic engagement session. It’s very clear that their love for one another was the first thing I saw. Perhaps it was the soothing waves or the beautiful backdrop of El Matador, one thing for sure is that Val and Earl’s connection was strong.

Our light at El Matador wasn’t quite golden; however, it was soft and romantic. A beautiful place for anyone to be photographed in. The waves crashing back and forth and the breeze moving Valerie’s hair back and forth made everything much more romantic and gave this engagement session an elevated but cozy feel.

Valerie and Earl are having their wedding at Inn of the Seventh Ray next month and I am so excited to photograph them then too. They are incredibly kind and were amazing to work with. If you are planning your romantic engagement session, El Matador State Beach is the perfect location, and who else to capture it than me? Send me a message on my contact page.
